Andy Keller, WMMessage from the East

Brethren,

March was another great month for our lodge. We had a wonderful Stated meeting, and I especially want to thank Worshipful Philip Nelson and Right
Worshipful Jim Dickerson for their efforts that night. Brother Philip arrived in period dress as Reverend and Brother Frederick Hatch, our first lodge Chaplain (1820.) Philip presented an outstanding program, and his witty humor was on display as well. I had asked Philip to come in after lodge opened to provide a more dramatic feel. In his understated style, Philip asked the lodge’s pardon for being late, stating, “I couldn’t find a place to park my horse.”

Brother Jim assisted with the program representing Mr. Jefferson, a friend who teased Reverend Hatch about his long sermons. In addition to his acting performance, Brother Jim also prepared a big pot of corn beef and cabbage stew. With the assistance of Brother Anselmo VillagranChua, the brethren truly enjoyed the refreshments.

Several lodge officers attended our Division Leadership Conference in Fishersville meeting with their Grand Lodge counterparts, and Right Worshipful Bob Simpson presented a program at Catawba Lodge No. 342 in Fincastle.

Upcoming lodge activities for the next several months: (1) “April Stated.” At 6:45 pm, just prior to opening our April 16th Stated meeting, Right Worshipful Andy Keller plans to introduce our Masonic Little League coach for a team update. The program for the Stated will be a Masonic debate between Right Worshipful Russ Snodgrass and Right Worshipful Bob Simpson – “How well should you know a man before signing his petition as a voucher?” (2) “Bring a Friend Night” on May 9th beginning at 7pm. We’ll meet in the dining room for sandwiches and chips. Casual attire. Please let the Secretary know if you’re bringing a friend. (3) “Table Lodge” on June 25th. Dinner will be served at 6:15. Cost is $5 and all candidates are invited. We hope everyone will consider wearing a Hawaiian shirt and slacks. Please make reservations with our JW, Right Worshipful William Bond, wbond0051@gmail.com, 434-985-6171.

And as usual, please don’t hesitate to contact me or our Secretary if you need assistance: MGGriffin@TGBLaw.com, 434-981-5428 and Brother Mark Chapman, agw123@earthlink.net, 434-971-1332.

Fraternally,

Bro. Mike Griffin, WM
